Naming things

When two designers argue about a name, I ask what a new hire would type into search to find it. Last week we spent twenty minutes on “Account” versus “Profile” until Leila pointed out that support calls it “my settings”. We used that. Names should follow how people already talk, even when the result is slightly less elegant.
